Our Mission
The Mission of Chantilly Bible Church is to make fully devoted followers of Christ who love God and love others. As a Bible Church, we have intentionally drawn our mission directly from commands given to us in Scripture. The first part is Jesus’s “great commission” to his followers:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
The second part is based on what Jesus’ recognized as the “great commandment:”
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37b-40)
This mission forms the basis for everything we do as a church.
Furthermore, our work to accomplish this mission is always done in the context of our core values. These values shape who we are and what we do as a church.
Our Practices
Our mission statement comes from Jesus. Our Values help us stay faithful to our mission. But what does it practically look like to live out our mission as “fully devoted followers of Christ together?” The answer is the Practices that we prioritize and build our lives on together: Gather, Grow, Give, and Go.
GATHER
Worshipping as a Family Together
Heb. 10:25; Psalm 122:1; Acts 5:42
It is not good for man to be alone (Gen. 2:18), and so, since the beginning God has been gathering His people together to worship Him. From worshipping at the temple in the Old Testament to the gathering of the church in the New Testament, there are experiences of God that only happen when His children gather together, in person, to worship Him.
As the fully devoted, we prioritize what Jesus prioritizes, including that we GATHER in-person in our weekend services together.
GROW
Becoming Like Jesus Together
Eph. 4:11-13; Col. 1:28; Acts 4:32-35
The purpose of our lives is to become more and more like Jesus – and we do that together. When we come together as the church and ask God’s Spirit to grow our heads in the knowledge of Jesus, our hearts in belief in Jesus, and our hands in living for Jesus, we grow together in the eternal purpose we were made: to become like Jesus together.
As the fully devoted, we prioritize the practice that we GROW together through our classes, studies and community groups that help us become more like Jesus together.
GIVE
Investing in Eternity Together
Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Pet 3:15; Philem. 1:6
The story we live in is God’s story, and it’s the story of all He has given to us: both our life and our new life in Christ. By giving up his most precious treasure, Jesus, we are given the redemption, forgiveness and restoration to God that we could never earn ourselves. We live as those who overflow with grace, shown in how we give to serve and support the work of God among us, using our time, talents and treasures to serve one another.
The fully devoted prioritize the practice that we GIVE together, investing in eternity, by serving one another and supporting the work of God among us.
GO
Sharing the Hope of Jesus Together
Rom. 12:6; 1 Pet. 4:10; 1 Tim. 6:18; 2 Cor. 9:7
The gospel is the only hope of humanity, and as those who be transformed by it, we live to share the hope we have with those in our lives. We are sent into the world like Jesus was, to bring the truth of his life, death and resurrection to save sinners to everyone we meet. As we commit together to sharing the hope of Jesus to our community and across the globe, we follow Jesus’ command for us to “go” with the hope of Jesus into a lost and desperate world.
The fully devoted prioritize the practice that we GO together, sharing the hope of Jesus with a world lost without Him.
Our Core Values
In order to stay faithful to who God has called His Church to be, CBC has 6 Core Values that drive all that we do.
ROOTED IN THE WORD
Scripture is how we know and follow Jesus. God’s Word is our ultimate authority for what we believe, teach and do. We study and obey it, trusting the Spirit to transform our lives and equip us for good works. (Luke 24:27; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
You’ll find this value displayed in our commitment to Expository Preaching as we GATHER each weekend, our Adult Sunday School and Bible Studies programs, Bible-centered Family and Youth Ministries, and all the other ministries at CBC that are rooted in helping everyone know and obey the Word of God.
DEVOTED TO PRAYER
We can accomplish nothing apart from God. Through prayer God aligns our mind, heart, and actions with His desires and works in our midst. By continually praising God, confessing sin, and asking for His help, we draw nearer to God and one another. (John 15:5; Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6-7)
You’ll see a devotion to prayer shown throughout the life of CBC, including in our Pastoral Prayer during our services, our Prayer Team, our regular Prayer Meetings, and how seeking God in prayer is a continual and foundational drive of all we do at CBC.
GROWING MORE LIKE CHRIST
It is the responsibility of every believer to be growing into a fully devoted follower of Christ, helping others to do the same. Discipleship is this intentional process of knowing Jesus and becoming more like Him. We know we are successful when we see the fruit of this process in our families, church ministries, communities, and wherever God places us. (Deuteronomy 6:5-9; Matthew 28:18-20)
You’ll find many opportunities to GROW in becoming like Jesus at CBC s within our Adult Ministries: Community Groups, Men’s/Women’s Bible Studies and Discipleship Groups, Adult Sunday School and more.
LOVING LOST PEOPLE
We love lost people because God loves lost people. Therefore, we reach out to people across the street and around the world. Obeying God's commands, we reach others with the gospel by serving neighbors in their need, sending out those whom God raises up, and partnering with gospel-centered ministers and ministries. (Luke 19:10; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-17)
We love lost people as we GO in sharing the hope of Jesus together through personal evangelism, our Community Impact ministries, Global Impact mission ministries as well as local outreach events.
WELCOMING ALL CULTURES
We are one church of many cultures. The gospel breaks down all racial and ethnic divides to create a unified community in Christ. We intentionally welcome people from multiple cultures in our area and encourage cultural expression, while preserving unity among all the people God brings to our church. (Galatians 3:26-28, Revelation 5:9-10)
Our commitment to welcoming all cultures is expressed as we GATHER together each weekend offering multi-language interpretation and translation for our services, our culturally-based Community Groups and Bible Studies, and our specific outreaches to serve and connect with our diverse community.
LIVING IN COMMUNITY
Christ-centered community is essential for spiritual growth. God created us to form intentional relationships that deepen our love for Christ and each other. We prioritize meeting together to encourage, serve, and submit to one another. (Hebrews 10:23-25; 1 Peter 4:8-10)
We help each other GROW more like Christ as we gather in smaller settings, with the primary place for discipleship being our Community Groups. These groups are designed to help us walk out the “one-anothers” of Scriptures as we help each other know and follow Jesus more.
